What is Alopecia Areata?

Alopecia Areata is a common autoimmune skin disease resulting in the loss of hair on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. It usually begins with one or more small, round, smooth patches on the scalp and can progress to total scalp hair loss (alopecia totalis) or complete body hair loss (alopecia universalis). This common skin disease is very unpredictable and cyclical. Hair can grow back in or fall out again at any time, and the disease course is different for each person.

Support Network?

We are an active group of families  and friends, impacted by Alopecia Areata working together to spread

awareness, raise money to fund research, and support one another.

About The Kids

Alopecia areata affects approximately two percent of the worlds population . A few very special children who suffer the effects each and every day have decided to make it their mission to increase the profile of this often overlooked disease, join together for support, and raise money to benefit the National Alopecia Areata Association.
